IMAP is not a solution if the ISP doesn't support it.  Dealing with it
at the time can be very frustrating, I know, I've experienced it.


Good point about the server taking time to purge, but it can be
addressed by one of several easily implemented solutions:

1.  Wait a certain amount of (user-specified) time before relogin
2.  Just stop and don't re-login after the limit is reached.
3.  Pause and retry if the login is refused
