Then we agree.  I never said that I disagreed with the idea in
principle, just with this specific situation regarding PMMail.  In an
ideal world, I would love to be able to use 'best of breed' components
working seamlessly together to form the ideal email program or any
other type program.  It would be great if these components were LGPL'd
so that they would be constantly upgraded and improved.  As I said
before, however, I'm not confident that Bob & Ike are up to the
paradigm shift involved.  If they haven't been able to find the time to
release the fixes they already have, then where are they going to find
the time to completely restructure the program.  Would I like it if
they did?  Absolutely!  Do I think it likely that they will?  No.

Wouldn't that be fantastic.  Should it come to be, I would welcome
being the recipient of your first "I told you so".  Because of the
doubts I expressed above, however, at this point I would be happy just
to have some of the existing bug fixes released.
