As best I can tell from experiment the 'internet' insert a couple of hard returns and perhaps a couple of other characters every 1K characters or so (varies with the server it seems). The second problem is that I necessarily use WYSIWYG when I compose but forget to turn it off sometimes.

No that's not what happens. The default on my PMMail read window is WYSIWYG. When I get a paragraph without hard returns it wraps to fit my window. 100 percent of the time, everytime. If I change the size of the read window the text reflows properly. In discussions with others, the behavior is the same for most (incl non-PMMail) readers, except for a friend who uses some weird AOL/Windows reader that wraps on its own every 128 characters or so.

There are some readers that don't reflow properly but most do, including PMMail. I've spent a fair amount of time looking into this.

BTW, checkout the paragraphs of mine in this msg and see if they reflow at your read-window boundary. Try changing the window size.
