Ken, thank you very very much for replying@!  I was desperate.  It is
11pm here and I have appointments tomorrow outside the office;  if I
didn't get this going again I would have left the 8 machines here
brain dead to email, which is not acceptable in this day and age! 
Your comment b4 about some other modem setting getting wacked made me
go back to cmos and DISABLE com2 port on the OS2 machine;  THAT FIXED
IT.  Altho ZOC can handle using the modem with com2 enabled in cmos
bios settings, injoy couldn't.  Disabling it and it came back and
dials great again.  Thank you for the reminder to check further
there!!!
