[pmmail-list] why aren't folders alphabetized?

it seems that the timestamp in the filesystem was indeed the problem.
in windows, and i imagine in os/2 as well, it can be fixed by creating
a new folder at the same level as the folder whose children are in the
wrong order. then carefully multi-select the contents of the
misordered folder, in the same order as you want them to appear. in
windows explorer, this means sorting them by alphabetically ascending,
selecting the LAST, click-selecting the FIRST (leave out the .ini and
.uct files; you will have to reset the settings of the parent folder,
and the name), and then copying. then paste into the new parent
folder, rename the old parent folder with an innocuous, non .fld name,
check that everything is working nicely. then delete the old parent
folder.

the true solution is of course for pmmail to have an orderable list of
folders, best done with drag-n-drop ordering, and for the whole app to
use the same list order table. a button should be provided to
alphabetize any folder, or all folders.

 | perhaps there is a way around it. the list also seems in to appear
in
 | the order i added them on my computer. this suggests that creating
a
 | bunch of new folders with the correct sequence of time stamps might
 | reorder them, if done directly in the file system. failing that,
 | possibly removing the parent folder's settings files and re-
creating
 | them might have the desired effect. i will experiment a bit...

 | | I asked for a fix to this two years ago. Was "put on the list".
 | | I didn't ask if perhaps it was the ignore list.
