That is not the primary definition. For one thing, there is no such
thing as a dipthong.

But if you mean diphthong, the main definition is:

"a gliding monosyllabic speech sound (as the vowel combination at the
end of toy) that starts at or near the articulatory position for one
vowel and moves to or toward the position of another"

The preceeding definitions were for digraphs, which is the second
