[pmmail-list] What is wrong with my setup?

Please, please, please don't let this start another war over things like HTML, and bloat etc.

I really do need to understand enough to properly set up PMMail 2000. I got a message today from a
person whose mail I must be able to read. It began with stuff like this:

"<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1251">
<META content="MSHTML 6.00.2800.1141" name=GENERATOR></HEAD>
<BODY>
<P>
<DIV></DIV> . . . "

and then had text and above type weirdness interspersed. I copied to notepad and deleted the
quoted stuff and could read the message. I decided to write the author and ask what type of email
reader was being used (with the idea of suggesting just using plain text). So I clicked on reply and
quote and to my surprise, the message appeared in the new message window reading without the
garbage and in different fonts, etc,.

So my question, what happened that allowed the message to appear correctly in the new message
window when it did not when viewing the original message. And, how should I set up PMMail so I can
read the message without having to start a reply?

TIA for all help.
