I guess I would, if you are not already doing so, be sure all of the
names are on a 'bcc' list to avoid compromising the names/IDs of those
on your list.

But, to the question in the subject line, I do not think the number of
names is an issue.

Your issue really seems to be bounced messages because of bad
addresses.  My first reaction would be to set up a filter that:

1) Removes the ID from your Address Book.
2) Either:
   a) Moves the bounces to a special InBox to segregate them from your
      regular mail if you want to keep the message.
   b) Deletes it to get it out of your way.

The filter can be driven by keywords that you find in the bounces:
   - "User Unknown"
   - Whatever the standard error code is that most ISPs dump into
     their bounce messages.
   - "Rejected"
   - etc.
You'll just have to examine the messages for a while to see what really
works.  So, you may want to start with 2-a above and then revert to 2-b
once you have a fully operational filter.
