I just developed a similar, but not identical, set of symptoms and
wondered it anyone can help me. I sit at my laptop in my office
connected to the internet through the LAN and for two years could use
Remote Control to download the header list on any of several accounts,
then select which to transfer and which to delete, etc., and click on
the transfer icon and it worked fine. Two days ago, on only one
account (the others still work as they always have), when I request the
header list, it gets to the point of doing something about "Sending
user command" and seems to hang there ... the program is still working
and I can retrieve mail for other accounts. I finally close the entire
PMMail 2000 program (build 2661 for Windows) and use the dialer to
connect by phone line to the ISP for that email account and, doing it
that way, everything works fine again. Anyone know why this would
happen and why it matters how I access the POP server for that account?

The only hint I can give is that, while I think I've changed everything
back, the last thing I had done before this started occurring was to
try the registry hack for changing the data directory per info on the
thread about "Grayed-Out Spell Check Function". I made one change,
didn't get any results and changed it back. Since the other accounts
still work as before, I have no reason to expect that that screwed
something up (affecting only the one account) but I always figure I
could be wrong about that.
