I was sure that the first example below didn't work, but I must be in
error as it works now.  I had only a few samples left to test and
these filters worked on them.  If anyone tests these filters, please
let me know if my presumptions are incorrect.

  Deletion of 1-week-old messages: h.Date<"$c.date$-7"
  Deletion of 2-week-old messages: h.Date<"$c.date$-14"

However, these expressions are simplistic, only applicable to the
current month and the age of the message in days must exceed the
criterion, since it is a simple subtraction from the last 2 digits,
AFAICT.  I suppose if Julian dates were used, then this type of
filter would work on all dates.
