Thanks to all for all the years of good advice and ideas!

I am unsubscribing after making the painful switch to another email 
program.  Thunderbird has enough advantages to overcome my main 
disadvantage of a  missing feature:  being able to forward an email with 
a filter - I suspect it will come in due time.
