No thanks.  Why would you want a message marked "read" if it hasn't
been read?  Keep in mind that you can open the settings for the Trash
folder and deselect the "Folder Icon Indicates Unread Mail" if that's
the problem.

PMMail/2 already does this.  If you open the PMMail->Settings
selection, on the General page there is an option to "Minimize To
Status Window".  When this is selected and PMMail is minimized, a small
status window opens up and it will blink and optionally play a sound
when new mail arrives.
