Proper threading?

 This is not correct - "read status" is more than "unread" - it's also
comprising "replied-to" and "sent mail". Hence your own messages and
the ones you replied to go to the end of the list, the unread ones are
on top - and the remainder in the middle is sorted for subject. While
you might live with own messages sorted out of a thread (since you
might remember what you said), it's more than awkward that the message
you replied to is also sorted separately. 

 It seems I'm the only one to find this layout ridiculous (or ever
having noticed it).

 it's sort of an approximation, but in NO way what you would do with a
stack of letters: You'd put the unread ones on top and all the other
stuff is sorted according to your liking (be it subject, sender, you
name it ...). That's what you would do with your files - but you just
can't do it using PMMAIL on your computer.

 My personal way of handling *archived* stuff is to delete the
messages.bag file etc in the appropriate pmmail directory and rebuild
the index. It's the easiest way to get this corrected once and for all
(but it makes no sense on recent files).

 I've proposed a change on that to Southsoft for ages - presumably they
don't handle much emails over there, otherwise they should have noticed
themselves.
