IMAP?

Between Exchange Server and Exchange Client (or Outlook) RPC's are used
by default, although with ver 5.0 and later POP3 and IMAP are also
supported. Outlook is slow because it tries to be everything to
everyone, is bloated with obscure features, and has some rather large
memory leaks.
