Improved Spell Checker.  The Spell Checker needs to recognize hyphens,
apostrophes, and plurals.  Hyphens and apostrophes really shouldn't be
a problem--just fix the program so that the elements on either side of
the hyphen are treated as separate words. For apostrophes, tell the
program to start a new word every time it encounters a hyphen, then add
the common contraction elements ('s. 've, 't, etc.) to the dictionary. 
There should be a way of letting PMMail recognize simple plurals
without having every one entered in the dictionary, but this would
involve putting in some common spelling rules--a bit more complicated.
