You probably know this, but I think Paul was referring to the file
container presented when you hit Attachments | Attach File when
in a "Compose" window.  Standard practices allow for Shift|Ctrl-\
(select|deselect All) as well as shift-LMB (to begin, then end a
quantity of selections) as well as ctrl-LMB (to select more than
one non-contiguous selections).
