"Know your customer" was a set of regulations proposed by U.S. feral
(spelled correctly) government that would have required that all banks spy
on their customers and report back to the feral government. Freedom-loving
individuals from all over the country buried the agency and Congress with
email/snailmail/phonecalls against KYC. They saw everyone loading their
shotguns and declined to put that particular regulation into effect.
The feral ones have not given up, however, and we must be ever vigilant.
