MIME attachment not appearing

A few days ago someone sent me some jpg images from MR/2, but I
couldn't see them in PMMail/2 (2.10.1999) -- that is, I couldn't
see ANY sign of them -- no indication of an attachment in the
message list or the attachment window, nor the message body as
viewed through PMMail -- not even using "view full message."
 
But viewing the message through a file viewer, it's all there. 
Has anyone noticed this sort of behavior before?  Is it limited
to attachments from MR/2?
