I'm using it right now with PMMail 2000. The version I'm using is
called stunnel, is free (with source), and runs on both 95/98, NT, &
Linux. I don't know if it is available for OS/2. The way it works is
that you specify the pop server in PMMail as your local machine.
Stunnel monitors the pop port (or whatever port you specify), and then
connects to a specified ip address on port 995 (or whatever port you
specify). I have stunnel running on my Linux server, which then
receives the connection and then opens a connection to the local
server.

Works nicely, and I now don't have to worry about my userid/password
being on the net.
