problems saving attachment?

I can rename delme.nedit to .nedit and then I can type .nedit with
no problems.  I can "tedit .test2" and type in some text and save
it with no problems.  I can "copy .nedit .test3" and it works OK.
I can also drag-and-drop to that drive (H:\) with no problems.
