Hadn't noticed that before, but it's clearly not a "bug" because I get
the following  message at the end of the truncated message in the
preview pane:

Due to it's length, this message preview has been truncated.
To view this message in its entirety, double-click the message
to open it in the read window.

[Note to programmers:  "it's" should be "its" above]
