[pmmail-list] Plans to do something with HTML email?

Hiya

I have to state right at the front, I *hate*, *loathe* and *detest*
HTML email, not only is it ugly, bloated and a huge security risk (ref
Outlook bugs of the week), it renders horribly on my preferred mail
program (that would be PMMail).

Are there plans to something about this?  My preferences in order would
be:

1) Have the ability to turn it off completely.  It's a pain, it's just
useless, it's a security risk, let me just choose to not see it.  If
there's a plain-text mime attachment (more bloat I know) I want to see
it and not the HTML; if there isn't just present the HTML in all it's
monstrosity and I'll deal with it (usually by replying with something
pithy like "try using text next time").

2) Fix the HTML renderer.  One way to do this would be to use IE to
display the email.  However I do not want this to happen unless I can
turn it off, due to the security implications associated with HTML
email, web bugs and all the other fun things that are floating around.

Also, when I reply to HTML email, and I turn off the HTML formatting, I
want the text to be quoted like a plain-text message, so I don't end up
doing such horrors as top-answering or adding '>' by hand and screwing
up the formatting even more.

I'm fully aware that HTML email isn't going to go away (no matter how
many wishes I make), and that some people are insistent they like it
(they need therapy), but I don't, and I would hope that my email client
would allow me to express that preference.
