I like that you can tailor the sort priority for each folder.
Unfortunately it needs a little more flexibility.
I like to sort messages by (in order):
- read status
- subject
- date/time of message
The problems comes with the ascending/descending qualifier, which
applies over the entire folder.
When set to ascending, you can follow message threads quite easily.
However, all new (unread) messages end up at the end of the folder
list, and you have to scroll to the bottom, after you select the
folder, to see them.
When set to descending, new (unread) messages are at the top, but you
can't easily follow threads because all the messages are in the wrong
order - if you select the first message of a thread, and then use the
DELETE key, you'll get the last message of the previous thread, not the
next message of the current thread.
Are there any work-arounds for this, or is this going to require a
change in the program? It sure would be nice to select a folder, have
all the unread messages flagged at the top (without scrolling), and
then be able to read/follow each message thread using the NEXT and
DELETE keys.
I note that Eudora has a system that seems to work well in this area.
While the sort priority isn't saved, you can click on a couple of bars
above the message list to have it come up exactly as I would like.
Thanks - Jim
