I actually have a ton of filters for grabbing mailing lists, mail from
friends, etc., and dropping each in its own folder. At the very end I
have a catch-all rule that dumps anything not addressed to me in my
spam folder. But I still end up with quite a few spams in my inbox. I
then scan the headers for the two folders for unread messages and
usually find a few mis-filtered. There's always a few mailing list
messages in the spam folder, because of PMM's filter bug that misses
addresses when they're not the first in a header, and there's always a
bunch of spam in my Inbox that is addressed to me. I discourage people
from sending me HTML, so any HTML in the Inbox is almost certainly
spam.
I went ahead and added a check for the ContentType line in the body, so
I'll see how effective that is. I made this the next-to-last rule, just
before my check for not being addressed to me.
