I finally gave up being "Mister Nice Guy" and have set a filter on
mail which looks for the html and /html tages in the body of the
message, and if found, deletes the message and sends the following
back to the originator:
This is an automated reply to your message sent to the address
above.
Your message was automatically deleted - unread - because it
contained material with HTML (browser format) tags.
This system accepts only plain text messages which are not
advertising material.
System Administrator
Occasionally recipients of the above get a little bent out of shape
but it serves then right. HTML has no place in a text-oriented
system. I have no desire to enable PMMail to read HTML-formatted
messages, which would only aid and abet such unacceptable behavior.
I guess that's what happens when the computer is relegated to a
consumer appliance. <rant off>
