I use PMMail/2000 for OS/2 with an external text editor (TSE for
OS/2) which displays neither color nor graphics.
I settle the HTML problem by using a pair of filters which look for
the complementary HTML tags in the body of the text, and if found,
do either of two things:
If it is not in a list message, send the canned reply below
to the "Reply To" address, transfer the messsage - unread - to the
Trash folder and delete it there, untouched by human brain.
If in a list message, transfer the message - unread - to a
"Trash" subfolder in the Inbox for manual review and/or deletion at
my convenience.
If and when PMMail filtration will be able to send a canned message
to the "From:" address instead of the "Reply To:" address, the
"Canned-Message-and-Delete" procedure will be used.
It is wonderful that about 90% of the SPAM that I formerlt received
is no longer seen.
The Canned Message that I use is:
.......
This is an automated reply to your message sent to the address
above.
Your message was automatically deleted - unread - because it
contained material with HTML (browser format) tags.
This system accepts only plain text messages.
System Administrator
......
We send a similar "reject message" when a messsage contains a
Word document as an attachment (we do not / will not / cannot deal
with that document format; WordPerfect or text formats welcomed).
Someone has got to make a stand......
