"dipthong" is probably a misspelling on the part of the PMMail
developers; or else an abbreviation to stick to the 8.3 file name
format.

I would guess the files are used for hyphenation; basically a list of
vowel combinations, diphthongs as it were, which are not to be broken
up during hyphenation.

So, PMMail folks, cast your light on this subject. :)

PS: PMMail folks, diphthong does have a plural... (spell check doesn't
like it).
