It does work! I once used the dishwasher to fix mine:
A couple of years back I dumped an expresso in my Northgate
keyboard and several important keys quit working.
After manual cleaning it still didn't work, so I removed the keycaps,
opened it up to get the circuit board, and put the board in the
dishwasher for a normal cycle -- with dishwasher detergent.
(I didn't let it do a heated dry).
I hung the cleaned board in the garage to dry for at least a week,
reassembled it, and it works fine.
Still the best keyboard I've used, even better feel than the IBM
keyboard that came with my first IBM PC in '82.
(And I still like having the function keys on the left!)
