You mean 8/9/2002, as in "August 9", right?  I can explain that.  Extracting 
the key header:

>Date: Sat, 10 Aug 2002 03:47:12 +0100

Note the time zone.  PMMail localizes the message times when it sorts and 
displays.  Based on your post, you are at GMT-0500, which is six hours earlier 
than the European sender of this message.  Thus, in your local time zone, this 
message was sent at 21:47:12 on August 9.
