Uh, Rod are there not facilities for including personal address books
within the framework of PMMail, either as groups or as other address books?
Yes, the concept of a common address book aka "OOAB" as you state, is also
touted by Lotus and MS as central repositories or corporate directories and
considered by them A Good Thing (tm others). But there are ways to do
things in between.

Some quite large businesses have made a success out of existing entirely
for a few users in a defined segment. Some have defined market segments as
containing one customer only ie they respect customers as unique individual
clients.

How about easing up a bit, Rod?

What kind of sharing? How could the program be made into a shareable
resource? Isn't a mail client by definition a single person app? I agree
the address book/s could be improved, but let's talk about the need for
features/function rather than raking over the old coals? As I have already
posted, integration with other apps is a lower priority to me than
improving PMMail.

After this round, maybe we could talk about components being separated out.
Why not build a centrally-stored shareable address book/directory
application with capacity for private and public addresses? Then PMMail
might be modified to use it (or any other, for that matter).

>From my perspective, the trouble with Directory/address book systems is
that they are buried in some other application (Notes, Exchange) which my
small business doesn't need.

Hey, maybe we could be talking about building-blocks and shared reusable
component technology here... WOW! <gd&r>
