  Wrong, it does. From the USAGE reply: 

-u <username>  : Username for AUTH LOGIN (use with -pw)
-pw <password> : Password for AUTH LOGIN (use with -u)
-plain         : Use AUTH PLAIN to login to SMTP server (use with -u -pw)

   This was introduced with version 1.8.5 in July 2000. Maybe you looked last 
at BLAT before that change. As to POP-before-SEND, one can use a call to 
BLAT's companion program GETMAIL.EXE in the script (unfortunately there is no 
DLL version of GETMAIL...).
