  I would think that PMMail doesn't hang on the email, but on the 
filter, where PMMail somehow gets lost of the contact with the a spawned 
process and can't retake control for the main process. 

  Do you happen to use my Blacklist filter? The directory lookup takes 
too long quite often, so that PMMail doesn't proceed.
