[pmmail-list] Error sending text

I am running PMMail v 2.20.2382 on eCS v1.03 with a dial up
connection to my ISP.  

Lately I have been getting a lot of this type of message in the error
log:

Sun, 09 Nov 03 12:32:24 ==> Error sending text to server ; TOP 21 1

The ending numbers vary.  Because of all the SPAM I have been using
the remote control to delete messages at the server at my ISP but
this appears to happen before I can make the remote connection.  I
also get a lot of "server broke connection" errors especially if
trying to download messages with large attachments.

My SMTP seems to work.  Internet browsing seems to work.  PrNews
newsreader appears to work.  Injoy does not indicate any activity

Any ideas about where I should be looking for the problem?
