The main thing which is bothering me is the fact that the quote char is
hard-coded to "> ", whereas I prefer " >". This is configurable in PMMail
and in many other clients but not (yet?) in Thunderbird. The tag "...
wrote" is a bit stupid at the moment but will hopefully also get more
verbose - like in PMMail.
When forwarding a message inline, there's only a separator at the
beginning, not at the end.
Triggering between shot and long header views is only possible by menu not
by quick button in the message window.
In addition, the editor seems to be a little bit brain-dead and sometimes,
it places the cursor at some arbitrary position while typing text.
I'm also missing the hooks for external scripts.
These are only some points I'm currently remembering ...

By default, the mailboxes seem to be stored in the common Unix format,
which makes it much more flexible in my opinion. But I don't know what
happens if Thunderbird starts to "compact folders".

Nor am I :) ... the old Netscape mailer was crap! And the Mozilla thing is
much slower than Thunderbird.
