I tried to change quikview.exe to notepad.exe per Mike's instructions below and am not sure if it's working or not.
Pmmailw.ini still lists c:\windows\system\viewers\quikview.exe
and I cannot tell by opening an attachment which program is doing it.
When I look at user hooks, notepad is listed but why doesn't it appear in any ini file?
Notepad is not under any registry item with pmmail either.
How could I test to tell if is in fact notepad opening the attachment?
An important question brought up by my wife (who I have taught to _never_ open attachments)
is: will either quikview.exe or notepad.exe ever run executables?

not sure if an answer was given- erased the other responces too quick.
I changed quickview.exe to C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.EXE [ pmmail tab, properties, user hooks, default attachment] so I can
see the .att files (usually notes about returned mail that cannot go thru). It is important to see these as they tell the problem with
why the email did not go thru.
