If VOICE actually votes in favor of acquiring the rights to the
OS/2 version of PMMail and completes the transaction, that
essentially takes care of the easy part. The hard part
follows. I do not know what documentation other than the
source code will come as part of the transaction. I do believe
that before you go making changes to any part of it, you best
understand the whole of it. You need to document that
understanding in a way which eases the effort of any new
member to the development/maintenance team. In any
volunteer-based programming effort people will transition in
and out over time. Good documentation which also remains in
sync with development will make more seamless the transition
periods.

While one person may eagerly seek to institute his views upon
what "improvements" to make, VOICE historically has a more
democratic approach. If you are intolerant of democracy, it it
seems either too slow or too "off track" in terms of its
priorities and choices, then you probably will or should opt off
the development team. However, if you understand the
personal discipline necessary to facilitate a team effort, skill
players who want to see this as a start of successful efforts
to "resuscitate" OS/2/eCS applications should consider joining
the team.

Moreover they should do it as VOICE members.
