Pmmail has gotten too slow to use!

Where do you keep your PMMail directory?  FAT disk?  LAN?  The 
only time I had this kind of problem was when I was fighting for 
bandwidth on a very busy LAN with very full folders - thousands 
of messages.  Cleaning out, actually using more, folders with 
fewer messages helped a little.  Moving my PMMail directory 
to a local HPFS drive made all the difference.  My "Kludge" 
folder still takes a bit to open and navigate, but nothing like ten 
seconds.
