There is a setting in the main settings so that read status is treated
in the previous manner, at least in the OS/2 version of 2.0

I don't now remember why this changed, but I will agree that I also
find it non ideal. I think that separating out 'read' from 'replied to'
etc would be a good idea. I will suggest this on the beta list.
