This is done to prevent spammers from using (undetected) the SMTP port on your
ISPs server to send his/her junk mail. Most all ISPs, nowadays, have this limit
imposed. It's referred to as "No Relay" in the SMTP Settings for the server,
and most of the anti-spam sites will blacklist any ISP who does NOT have the
"Relay" option disabled in their SMTP Server.

What I normally do is to just change the address of the SMTP server I want to
send with, to match the ISP I'm connected to.

I never change it at home ... retrieve from 3 accounts, and send using the SMTP
server of my primary ISP. But, when I'm on the road, I need to change the SMTP
server in my laptop setup to match that of the ISP I'm using.
