Hi Xavi,

I certainly understand your attitude towards the future of PMMail after
the string of broken promises and missed deadlines we have all
witnessed over the past two years. All I can tell you, however, is
that my experience with PMView, Peter Nielsen's software, has been
exactly the opposite. I participated in the beta program for PMView
2000, which was developed concurrently for OS/2 and Windows, and I was
constantly amazed at Peter's responsiveness. He promptly replied to
bug reports and rolled out new betas on a regular basis for evaluation.
If there was a 'bug' that couldn't be fixed, he would inform the list
about the problem with the compiler or library that had caused the bug
and would solicit and implement ideas and suggestions from the list to
get around the problem. The same was true with suggestions for new
features and enhancements. Peter would regularly ask for input about
if and how a new feature should work and often implemented multiple
solutions to fit different styles of operation.

If all this sounds almost too good to be true, it almost was.<g> Peter
was so accommodating to suggestions, that I honestly believe that if
the beta group hadn't deluged him with messages encouraging the end of
the beta and the release the GA's, then PMView 2000 would still be in
beta taking on new features and improvements. Fortunately, the GA was
released earlier this year and there have already been two updates. I
regularly use both the OS/2 and Windows versions and am extremely
pleased with both. There was also a brief message recently from Peter
about some early work on the next version of PMView.

If BSW provides sufficient resources for Peter to be able to actively
support multiple products, then I don't see how the current situation
with PMMail can do anything but improve. To me, the big question mark
is BSW since I have been completely underwhelmed by them so far.
However, I've always had a lot of respect for Thomas Bradford and BMT
Micro and I am hopeful that having Peter on board will enable Thomas to
turn BSW into the same type of high quality highly responsive
organization that BMT Micro has been for years.

Like you, I won't believe it until I see it, but I think the chances
that we'll see some significant improvements in PMMail are greater now
than at anytime in the last two years.

Ralph
