Smalltalk did made some tasks simpler, but things which are trivial 
in Java still cannot be implmented in Smalltalk, especially in the
area of network related stuff and object mobility across networks.
SmallTalk also suffers from being "less like" other programming
languages, Java feels more conventional to write in.
