Are you saying that Netscape (or whatever they are using) doesn't
automatically generate multipart/alternative when sending HTML?  I
always thought it did.  I.e., it includes both text and HTML versions
of the *same* document.  I would just prefer the option to view the
plain text (when present), rather than all the extraneous formatting
that only increase file size without adding content.

What I tried to indicate earlier, is that some "HTML mail" looks like
part of a web page, complete with adds, menus, and whatnot--rather than
personal "HTML" mail that is just plain text with formatting thrown in.
 I doubt that the "web page" type of e-mail contains any legible
plain-text portion--and if it doesn't, it probably isn't worth my time
anyway.
