PMMail completes aliases *exactly* like Internet Explorer does, with
the exception that it does not offer a drop-down list of matches. (It
also includes recently used email addresses, not just aliases.)

The purpose of aliases, as noted by another user, is to provide a
shortcut that you can remember for quick auto-completion of email
addresses.

So, without rewriting the functionality of the program (which
probably will not happen in the near future) here is my advice:

1. Enter aliases that you can remember or, as suggested, just leave
the person's entire full name in the alias field.
2. When you start typing in the "To:" or other fields and the
auto-completion selects the first name it finds that matches, just
like with Internet Explorer, if it's not the right one type the
*next* letter in the name. Keep typing until you find the right
"Janice".

This is how the program was intended to work and, used this way, it
allows you to enter the email address of anyone in your address book
within 1 or 2 seconds, without opening the address book.
