I agree, but I'd like the option to choose what it does.

Agreed, but writing a filter to remove all tags from a message is pretty
difficult and is beyond the capabilities of most users. Therefore I'd
like a way to do it that involves a mouse click or similar, but with the
option not to do it for those that need to see the tags.
