Hi Dave,

I share PMMail between an OS/2 and Win2k system over a LAN and it works
pretty well. Just install PMMail as usual on both your systems. Then,
on an OS/2 system, create a program object and set the Working
Directory to the path that your PMMail executable is located in on the
system on which the mail folders are located. On a Windows system,
create a program shortcut and set the Start In parameter to the path
your PMMail executable is located in on the system on which the mail
folders are located. You should then be able to use PMMail on either
system - although not concurrently.

For example, I initially installed PMMail on my OS/2 system in
j:\southsft\pmmail, so that is the path I have set for the Working
Directory in the program object. On my Win2k system, I had assigned
the j: drive on my OS/2 system to be drive s:, so the Start In
parameter for my Win2k PMMail program object is s:\southsft\pmmail.

The only gotcha's I've run into can be easily overcome. First of all,
having PMMail running concurrently on both systems can cause problems -
such as messages not being displayed - which requires that both PMMail
sessions be shut down before reopening the one you want to use. This
can also cause problems that require re-indexing. The second problem I
ran into was a delay on the Win2k system when accessing email from the
OS/2 system. Fixing this required patching the PMMail executable on
the Win2k system which was relatively simple. If you run into the same
problem, I'll be happy to send you the instructions for the patch.
