I don't belive the temp directory is accessed when you open PMMail with
the Preview window closed - at least there are no files created in that
directory - but I don't know if PMMail goes looking for it anyway which
could slow things down.  You might be correct, however, about Win2K and
WSeB "fighting" over something that is causing the large delay you are
seeing.  Do you have problems accessing any other files between the
systems?  

Another thing to consider, is that the drive on my OS/2 system which
contains the msg files is mapped to a drive letter in Win2k.  The
mapping takes place when I boot Win2k so I'm able to access that drive
without any delay whatsoever.  There is a noticable delay, however, the
first time I access a drive on my OS/2 system that hasn't be mapped.
