Presumably you're using SMTP to send e-mail. Generally, for security
reasons, you must use your ISP's SMTP servers for outgoing e-mail.
This servername goes in Account->Properties->Send->SMTP Server. Your
DSL provider should provide you with the name of this server.

If your dial-up connection is, say, earthlink, then you must use
something like "smtp.earthlink.com" or "mail.earthlink.com" when you
dial in. If your DSL provider is, say, verizon, then you must use
something like "smtp.verizon.net".

Many people have asymmetric e-mail setups, where they send mail via
their ISP but receive mail from their proprietary domain. From the
headers of this message, you can see that I'm connected through PacBell
Internet (DSL) but receive e-mail through my own domain (syntel.com).

Maybe this explains your problem...
