I think you are understanding the problem, but the hard thing
about bugs is how un-repeatable they are.  My PMMail had been
running for hours and hours, and I had done the same action before,
but this time it chose to hose the icon.  Why? Who knows.

My primary way to filter to trash is to read PopFile x-text.  Since
it is not foolproof (close, but not yet), I want to manually review
the messages to see if they really are viruses (and spam as well).
The viruses get deleted and the spam just sits there until I empty
the trash.  Thus, I don't want to auto mark them read, or to turn
off the icon indication.

Actually, as I typed, I got another virus.  I highlighted it and
pressed delete.  It is gone but the indicator is unconvinced.  It
still shows unread mail.  Re-indexing, no good.  Mark all read,
not working.

One thing I am doing is marking the viruses as HIGH priority and
spam a low priority.  I'll see if the HIGH priority is to blame.

Where's a new virus message when you need it? :)
