Wow, that's a hard one.  Try the following:

Create a new folder, and move the message into that folder.
Create a copy of the message.
Load the copy into "e"
Edit the file name ONLY.  Make it a legit file name
Save the file
Load the copy in PMMail and try saving the attachment.
