Yes, I use both of those! I even gave BoB access to a special user name
using Demon's name+host mechanism so that he could send me messages and
read them back from my POP mailbox and see what was going on. Like you
it took me a phenomenal amount of time to convince him there was a
problem, this was just after the first PMMail for Windows release as I
didn't use POP very often on the OS/2 box due to first sendmail and
later on Weasel handling mail using smtp.
As you say, the RFC goes to the trouble of saying that UID is the
*only* feature of a message guaranteed to be preserved between
sessions.
Agree with you on the default as well, that should be a really simple
change to implement.
